Toy-manufacturing piecework tariff for home workers repealed effective May 31, 2026
A regulation setting minimum wages and allowances for home workers (Heimarbeiter) in toy manufacturing has been repealed as of May 31, 2026, by amendment BGBl. II 252/2026. Home workers in this sector are affected.
What changed
The Federal Conciliation Office (Bundeseinigungsamt) had issued a wage tariff on May 1, 2025, that set piece-rate pay at €11.32 per hour and added a 10% home-work allowance (Heimarbeitszuschlag) for all workers and contractors in toy manufacturing. This entire regulation has been repealed effective May 31, 2026.
Who is affected
Home workers (Heimarbeiter) engaged in toy manufacturing or processing of any kind, and their contractors (Auftraggeber), are directly affected. The tariff no longer applies after May 31, 2026.
What to look out for
Workers and contractors must ensure they transition away from the tariff-mandated rates (€11.32 hourly equivalent plus 10% allowance) by the repeal date. Any agreements or payments based on this tariff will cease to have legal force after May 31, 2026.
