Legal Changes🇦🇹

Last week in Austrian law

Austria's most significant federal law changes this week include a temporary reduction in mineral oil tax on petrol and diesel for June 2026 to cushion consumers from fuel price spikes, as set out in BGBl. II Nr. 129/2026. On the fiscal side, four states — Burgenland, Lower Austria, Salzburg, and Styria — have formally joined the Austrian Stability Pact 2025 retroactively from 1 January 2024. The Federal Equal Treatment Act (B-GlBG) was updated to incorporate the EU Pay Transparency Directive (2023/970/EU), with related Dienstrechts-Novelle 2025 amendments in force since 1 April 2025. Meanwhile, the Gas System Usage Fees Ordinance 2013 (GSNE-VO 2013) received explicit expiry dates for four tariff provision sets, most running until 1 January 2027.
