Apprentice pay for fitness trainers set by federal arbitration board
Austria's Federal Arbitration Board (Bundeseinigungsamt) has set minimum apprentice wages for the fitness trainer profession, effective 1 October 2026. The regulation applies to all fitness trainer apprentices and their employers nationwide.
What changed
The Federal Arbitration Board established minimum monthly apprentice pay for fitness trainers (Fitnessbetreuung): €739.30 in year 1, €941.20 in year 2, and €1,322.70 in year 3. This was done under authority of the Industrial Constitution Act (Arbeitsverfassungsgesetz) because no collective agreement exists for this profession.
Who is affected
All employers training apprentices in the fitness trainer profession and all fitness trainer apprentices employed by those employers throughout Austria must follow these wage rules, effective immediately from 1 October 2026.
Bonuses and overtime pay
Each apprentice receives one annual holiday bonus equal to one month's apprentice wage (paid at start of leave or by 30 June). Each apprentice also receives a Christmas bonus equal to one month's wage, payable by 30 November. For overtime, if no relevant skilled-worker wage exists in the business, a rate of €11.42 per hour applies for apprentices over 18 years old.
