Addition of supplementary examination option for flat-print apprentices; metadata update
This amendment adds a new supplementary examination (Zusatzprüfung) option for apprentices who have completed their final examination in printer, copper-printer, or screen-printer trades and wish to qualify additionally in flat-print. Apprentices who completed their final examination in letterpress-printing have until 30 April 1987 to take this supplementary examination. The change also updates the law's metadata (last updated date and subject classification).
What changed
A new section (§ 5) has been inserted creating a supplementary examination in flat-print for apprentices who have successfully completed their final examination in the trades of printer (Drucker), copper-printer (Kupferdrucker), or screen-printer (Siebdrucker). The supplementary examination covers two components: practical work (Prüfarbeit) and technical discussion (Fachgespräch). A time-limited option also allows apprentices from the letterpress-printing (Hochdrucker) trade to take this supplementary examination until 30 April 1987. Additionally, metadata fields have been updated: the last-updated date changed from 1 August 1974 to 1 June 2026, and a subject classification "50/04 Vocational training" has been added.
Who is affected
Apprentices who have successfully completed their final examination in the printer, copper-printer, or screen-printer trades may now pursue an additional qualification in flat-print through the supplementary examination. Apprentices from the letterpress-printing trade have a limited window (until 30 April 1987) to take this same supplementary examination.
What to look out for
The supplementary examination is only available after successful completion of the initial apprenticeship final examination in one of the specified trades.
