Austrian Defence Ministry pay rates and allowances (repealed 31 July 2027)
This regulation set monthly pay, rank allowances, premiums, and other financial entitlements for Austrian military personnel (recruits, non-commissioned officers, officers, and volunteers) effective 1 July 2026. The regulation was repealed on 31 July 2027.
What changed
A new regulation established detailed pay scales and allowances for Austrian Defence Force (Bundesheer) personnel, including monthly salary (Monatsgeld), rank allowances (Dienstgradzulage), volunteer premiums (Freiwilligenprämie), training allowances, and special benefits. The amounts ranged from €24.66 (basic administrative fee) to €158,505.75 (lump-sum payment to dependents).
Who is affected
Military personnel in the Austrian Defence Force, including recruits (Rekruten), non-commissioned officers (Unteroffiziere), officers (Offiziere), and volunteers serving in training, operational deployment, or militia roles. The regulation applied to all ranks from Gefreiter (lance corporal equivalent) to General.
What to look out for
This regulation was repealed effective 31 July 2027 and would have been replaced by successor legislation. Military personnel should verify current applicable pay rates with their employer, as this regulation no longer applies.
