Regulation on accident insurance coverage for Austrian Red Cross regional chapters repealed
A 1980 regulation that included members of six Austrian Red Cross regional chapters (Burgenland, Carinthia, Upper Austria, Styria, Tyrol, Vorarlberg) in supplementary accident insurance has been repealed effective 15 July 2026. The regulation is no longer in force.
What changed
This regulation, originally issued on 31 May 1980, has been formally repealed by Federal Law Gazette (BGBl.) II No. 213/2026, effective 15 July 2026. The regulation had extended supplementary accident insurance coverage (under the General Social Insurance Act) to members of six Red Cross regional branches starting 1 January 1980.
Who is affected
Members of the Austrian Red Cross regional chapters in Burgenland, Carinthia, Upper Austria, Styria, Tyrol, and Vorarlberg were the original beneficiaries. As of 15 July 2026, this regulation no longer applies, and any coverage or obligations it created have ended.
