Regulation on inclusion in supplementary accident insurance repealed
A 2011 regulation that required members of the Austrian Rescue Dog Service organisation to be included in supplementary accident insurance under social security law has been repealed effective 15 July 2026.
What changed
The Regulation on Inclusion in Supplementary Accident Insurance (Verordnung des Bundesministers für Gesundheit über eine Einbeziehung in die Zusatzversicherung in der Unfallversicherung) has been repealed. This regulation previously mandated that members of the organisation 'Österreichischer Rettungsdienst, Einsatzorganisation für Rettungshunde (ÖRD Rettungshunde-Einsatz)' – the Austrian Rescue Dog Service – be automatically included in supplementary accident insurance under section 22a of the General Social Insurance Act (ASVG).
When it takes effect
The repeal became effective on 15 July 2026 under Federal Law Gazette II No. 213/2026. The regulation was originally published on 11 October 2011.
Who is affected
Members of the Austrian Rescue Dog Service organisation are directly affected. They should clarify their accident insurance status with their organisation and insurance provider, as the automatic inclusion requirement no longer applies.
