Angola joins the Rotterdam Convention on hazardous chemicals in international trade
Angola has acceded to the Rotterdam Convention (PIC procedure for hazardous chemicals and pesticides), and has been added to the official list of contracting parties via BGBl. III Nr. 136/2026. Several metadata fields in the Austrian legal register were also updated editorially.
What changed
Angola has been added to the list of contracting parties to the Rotterdam Convention, which governs the Prior Informed Consent (PIC) procedure for certain hazardous chemicals and pesticides in international trade. The entry references BGBl. III Nr. 136/2026. Additionally, the canonical URL of the document was updated and minor metadata fields were added or reordered.
Who is affected
Businesses and authorities involved in importing or exporting chemicals or pesticides covered by the Convention should be aware that Angola is now bound by the PIC requirements, meaning trade in listed substances with Angola must follow the Convention's consent procedures.
What to look out for
If your organisation trades in restricted chemicals with Angola, the PIC rules now apply. The Convention's annexes define which substances are covered; consult the current list of controlled chemicals before shipping.
