Austrian Post operational allowance regulation 2025 repealed effective 30 September 2026
The Betriebssonderzulagen-Verordnung 2025 (operational supplementary allowance regulation for Austrian Post employees) has been repealed and will cease to apply on 30 September 2026. This regulation previously set monthly allowance amounts for four employee groups based on operational and difficulty surcharges.
What changed
The regulation that set monthly operational and difficulty surcharges for Austrian Post employees—ranging from €9.45 to €298.62 per month depending on employee group—has been formally repealed effective 30 September 2026 by Federal Law Gazette II No. 258/2026. The regulation originally came into force on 1 July 2025 and replaced the previous allowance regulation (BGBl. II No. 301/2024).
Who is affected
Austrian Post AG employees and employees of companies formed from Austrian Post through corporate restructuring who received operational supplementary allowances (Betriebssonderzulagen) under the four designated groups are affected. The regulation addressed their monthly expense and difficulty compensation.
What to look out for
Employees should note that the allowance amounts—Group I: €150.19 (difficulty) + €13.08 (expense); Group II: €118.38 + €11.26; Group III: €86.58 + €9.45; Group IV: €298.62 + €9.45—will no longer apply after 30 September 2026. Affected staff should await guidance on successor arrangements from their employer.
