Regulation on supplementary insurance inclusion repealed effective July 2026
A 1999 regulation that brought members of the Austrian Mountain Rescue Service (Österreichischer Bergrettungsdienst) in Lower Austria and Vienna into supplementary accident insurance coverage is being repealed as of 15 July 2026.
What changed
The regulation, which has been in force since 1999, is being formally repealed by Federal Law Gazette II No. 213/2026, effective 15 July 2026. The regulation previously required inclusion of Mountain Rescue Service members in supplementary accident insurance under the General Social Insurance Act.
Who is affected
Members of the Austrian Mountain Rescue Service (Österreichischer Bergrettungsdienst) in the Lower Austria and Vienna regional organizations are directly affected by the loss of this supplementary insurance provision.
When it takes effect
The repeal becomes effective on 15 July 2026. Until that date, the regulation remains in force.
