New fee schedule for Statistics Austria's education documentation work (2026–2027)
The Austrian education ministry must pay Statistics Austria €1.22 million (2026) and €1.24 million (2027), plus a one-time €61,266 payment, to cover costs of implementing the Education Documentation Act. Annual payments increase by 2.5% thereafter.
What changed
This regulation replaces the 2021 fee schedule with new payment amounts for 2026 and beyond. Statistics Austria receives an annual fee of €1,220,211.22 for 2026 and €1,236,173.55 for 2027, with a one-time programming fee of €61,265.50 in 2026. From 2028 onward, the annual fee increases automatically by 2.5% each year.
Who is affected
The Austrian Federal Ministry of Education pays these fees to Statistics Austria, a public statistics agency. Schools and education authorities are indirectly affected as they depend on the data systems Statistics Austria maintains under the Education Documentation Act.
Key dates and deadlines
The 2026 annual payment and one-time fee are due within two weeks of this regulation being published (published 10 September 2026). Subsequent annual payments are due each 1 July. The previous 2021 fee schedule is repealed effective immediately.
