Who is affected
Truck drivers and haulage operators using the A 10 Tauern Motorway must observe the ban on Saturdays between 7:00 and 15:00 during the specified dates. Vehicles carrying fresh food, livestock, mail, emergency cargo, or operating on exempted regional routes are excluded.
Times and routes
Southbound (Villach direction): Saturdays 11 Jul–8 Aug and 22 Aug–5 Sep, 07:00–15:00. Northbound (Salzburg direction): Saturdays 18 Jul–8 Aug and 22 Aug–19 Sep, 07:00–15:00. Both apply between the Salzburg and Villach junctions.
What to look out for
Many exemptions exist for essential cargo (fresh food, livestock, medicines, mail), emergency services, and vehicles with origins or destinations in specified districts of Austria, Bavaria, Italy, and Slovenia. Operators must carry documentation proving goods qualify for exemption; fresh-food carriers must have freight papers showing load status at start and throughout transport.
