New transitional provision §123 added to Austria's court jurisdiction law (JN); §121 in force from 1 August 2026
A new section §123 was inserted into the Jurisdictionsnorm (JN – Austria's statute on court jurisdiction and competence), consolidating existing entry-into-force rules and adding a new one: §121, in the version enacted by the Budgetbegleitgesetz 2027-2028 (BGBl. I Nr. 62/2026), takes effect on 1 August 2026.
What changed
A new §123 was added to the JN. It consolidates transitional provisions already in force (regarding the Hass-im-Netz-Bekämpfungs-Gesetz BGBl. I Nr. 148/2020 effective 1 January 2021, the Zivilverfahrens-Novelle 2022 effective 1 May 2022, and the Informationsfreiheits-Anpassungsgesetz BGBl. I Nr. 50/2025) and adds a genuinely new paragraph: §121 (including its heading) in the version of the Budgetbegleitgesetz 2027-2028 (BGBl. I Nr. 62/2026) enters into force on 1 August 2026. The keyword index was also updated to reference the Budgetbegleitgesetz 2027-2028.
