Student aid amounts and earning limits set for 2026/27 academic year
Austria's Federal Ministry for Women, Science and Research has set the new payment amounts for student aid (Studienbeihilfe), self-supporting student aid, and degree-completion scholarships for the 2026/27 academic year, and the earning limit for calendar year 2026. These changes take effect on 1 September 2026 for most provisions and 1 January 2027 for the earning limit.
What changed
New monetary amounts for student aid, self-supporting student aid, and degree-completion scholarships have been set for the 2026/27 academic year. The earning limit (Zuverdienstgrenze) for calendar year 2026 has also been adjusted. This is an annual revaluation (valorization) to account for inflation.
Who is affected
Students receiving or eligible for Austrian student aid, including those on self-supporting aid and students completing their degrees, are affected. The new earning limit applies to all students in calendar year 2026.
When it takes effect
The new student aid amounts take effect on 1 September 2026. The updated earning limit takes effect on 1 January 2027. This regulation applies only to the 2026/27 academic year and expires on 31 August 2027.
