GSNE-VO 2013: 2026 tariff provisions given explicit expiry dates — most until 1 Jan 2027, one until 6 Jun 2026
Four sets of tariff provisions in Austria's Gas System Usage Fees Ordinance 2013 (GSNE-VO 2013) that took effect on 1 January 2026 have been amended by BGBl. II Nr. 131/2026 to include explicit expiry dates. Three of the four provision sets expire on 1 January 2027 at 6:00 a.m.; one provision set covering fees for miscellaneous services expired on 6 June 2026 at 6:00 a.m.
What changed
Previously, four tariff provision sets stated only that they entered into force on 1 January 2026 at 6:00 a.m. The amendment BGBl. II Nr. 131/2026 adds explicit expiry dates to each: three sets now expire on 1 January 2027 at 6:00 a.m., and one set — the rules on fees for miscellaneous services — expired on 6 June 2026 at 6:00 a.m. The legal basis is extended to include § 21 para. 31 of the Gas Statistics Ordinance 2017 (GStat-VO 2017).
Who is affected
Gas pipeline operators (Fernleitungsnetzbetreiber), distribution network operators (Verteilernetzbetreiber), and storage companies (Speicherunternehmen) in Austria are directly affected, as are any end customers and other parties who pay system usage fees under this ordinance.
What to look out for
The provision on miscellaneous service fees is already no longer in force as of 6 June 2026; new rules apply from that date. The remaining three provision sets will cease to apply on 1 January 2027, after which successor tariff rules must be in place. Affected parties should monitor forthcoming amendments to the GSNE-VO 2013 to ensure continuity.
