New wage tariff for toy manufacturing and processing homeworkers: €11.78/hour plus 10% supplement
Austria's Federal Conciliation Office has set binding pay rates for all homeworkers engaged in toy manufacturing or processing nationwide. The tariff—effective June 1, 2026—requires contractors to pay at least €11.78 per hour (calculated as piece rates) plus a mandatory 10% homework supplement.
What changed
A new homework tariff (Heimarbeitstarif) has been issued under the Homework Act 1960. This tariff establishes minimum piece-rate compensation of €11.78 per hour for all toy-manufacturing and toy-processing homeworkers, plus an additional 10% supplement that must be shown separately on pay statements.
Who is affected
All contractors and businesses that employ homeworkers for toy manufacturing or processing anywhere in Austria must comply. Homeworkers engaged in these activities are now guaranteed these minimum rates, unless they are already covered by a separate homework collective agreement (Heimarbeitsgesamtvertrag).
When it takes effect
The tariff became effective on June 1, 2026. Contractors must apply these rates to all qualifying homeworkers from that date forward.
What to look out for
The 10% supplement must be calculated on the piece rates and shown as a separate line item on invoices or pay statements. Toy manufacturing or processing already covered by another homework agreement is not affected. Contractors should verify that their piece-rate calculations actually yield at least €11.78/hour when divided by hours worked.
