Austrian Post Group salary and allowance adjustment for civil servants, effective 15 September 2026
This regulation adjusts salaries and allowances for civil servants assigned to Austrian Post AG, OBS (formerly GIS), and related subsidiaries. The changes take effect on 15 September 2026 for postal/telecommunications staff and 1 October 2026 for secondary fees.
What changed
Salary and service allowances for postal and telecommunications civil servants are adjusted based on a wage agreement from 28 April 2026. From 15 September 2026, new rates apply (detailed in Annex 1). Secondary fees and allowances tied to the "Nebengebühren-V/2" reference rate increase by 3.0% from 1 October 2026. Usage allowances for postal staff are also adjusted from 15 September 2026 (Annex 2).
Who is affected
Civil servants employed by Austrian Post AG, OBS (ORF-Beitrags Service GmbH), and their subsidiaries under § 17 Abs. 1a of the Poststrukturgesetz. General administration and crafts staff are not affected by this regulation because they receive the same increases as public-sector employees at the same time.
What to look out for
The regulation replaces BGBl. II Nr. 114/2025 effective immediately. Affected civil servants should verify the applicable rates in Annexes 1 and 2 for their employment category. Different effective dates apply: 15 September 2026 for salary/allowance adjustments and 1 October 2026 for secondary fee increases.
