§ 4(3) clarified: failed subjects must be from practical or theoretical exam; plus minor text fixes
A clarification in § 4(3) now explicitly states that the relaxed retake window (3–6 months) applies only when one or two subjects from the practical or theoretical examination were failed — not just any subjects. Several cosmetic text fixes (capitalisation, punctuation, metadata date) were also made. The regulation itself is already repealed.
What changed
In § 4(3), the phrase 'in einem oder zwei Gegenständen' (in one or two subjects) was expanded to 'in einem oder zwei Gegenständen der praktischen oder theoretischen Prüfung' (in one or two subjects of the practical or theoretical examination). This explicitly limits the early retake window to failures within those two exam parts. Additionally, repeated cross-reference notes were changed from 'Zum' to 'zum' (lowercase) and trailing full stops were removed — purely cosmetic fixes.
Who is affected
Apprentices (Lehrlinge) in the Wasserleitungsinstallateur (plumber/water-installation) trade who failed part of their final apprenticeship examination (Lehrabschlussprüfung). In practice the regulation is already repealed, so this affects only historical interpretation.
What to look out for
The clarification confirms that the 3-to-6-month retake privilege is tied specifically to failures in the practical or theoretical exam components, not to any other exam element. No deadlines, fines, or other obligations were changed.
